Jeans were first designed in the USA in the 19th century. One of the pioneers was Levi Strauss, who used the sturdy blue denim fabric for the first blue jeans - originally intended for workers and cowboys, but of course these comfortable and versatile trousers found their way into women's wardrobes!
In the 1930s and 1940s, jeans were worn by fashion-conscious American women for leisure and camping, but it was rock'n'roll that paved the way for jeans as a typical garment for young people, especially in Europe. There would be no classic rockabilly look without denim: classic 1950s wide-leg high-waist jeans, narrow figure-hugging styles or sturdy dungarees. At Peggy Sue Vintage you'll find great jeans from Hell Bunny and Lady K Loves, for every figure and every occasion.
