Wedding Dress Shopping
A perfect dress for a perfect day! At Peggy Sue Vintage you will find wedding dresses in vintage styles of the 1920s to 1960s.
You can take a peek at our current wedding dress collection in our web shop. We also have a few wedding dresses in our store in Frankfurt from the stocks of UK manufacturer Honeypie Boutique in sizes DE 34 to DE 38 (UK 8 to UK 12). Since this brand is no longer operating, we do not offer a made-to-measure service any more.
You have questions about wedding dress shopping with us? On this page, you will find a few answers to frequently asked questions.
Ideally, you will be able to visit us in-store for a consultation, but if you can't do this, we're also happy to help.
Do I need an appointment?
If you just want to browse or take a quick look at our current stock, you are welcome to visit our store by yourself or with another person during our regular opening hours. However, please understand that we may not be able do a full consultation and show you our entire range if the shop is busy. We recommend making an appointment 1-2 weeks in advance by e-mail or by phone (069-90437223). Appointments are available during and outside opening hours, depending on your wishes and the size of your group.
An appointment is always required for groups of 4 or more people. A bit of advice from our experience: too many people and especially too many opinions can sometimes cause confusion instead of supporting the bride - it's your day and your decision.
What should I bring with me?
We recommend wearing a well-fitting bra, ideally not a sports bra, sports bras flatten the bust and do not work well with vintage style dresses. If you are considering a white or light coloured dress, we recommend white or pastel coloured underwear (peach is perfect). If you have them, please bring a pair of shoes with the heel height you are planning to wear for your wedding, we do not have "try-on shoes".
Please do not apply too much makeup as this can rub off onto the dresses. We have protective tissues and makeup removal wipes in the shop if needed. Of course, it's normal to be nervous and even to sweat a little - it's an important occasion, after all! However, please do not come straight from the gym, riding stable or similar to try on the clothes. We reserve the right to cancel a wedding dress fitting in such cases, as well if the person trying on the dresses is intoxicated.
How long in advance do I need to come to find my dress?
All dresses currently available in the shop are ready to take home - if it fits, it fits ... Otherwise, we would suggest coming about 3 - 4 months before your wedding date. At that time, we will stock current collections, we know what is coming this season and there is enough time to place an order if your favourite dress is not available in the shop in your size. On the other hand, we don't recommend coming more than 6 months in advance, we cannot guarantee that the styles currently available in the store will still be there in the future.
What about accessories?
We have a selection of wedding accessories in our shop, for example fascinators, small veils, hair flowers or gloves. We're happy to help you add the finishing touches to your personal wedding style. Please note that we do not sell shoes.
I need dresses for my bridesmaids or guests, can you help?
Of course, we're happy to find outfits for your wedding party and guests.
And what does the groom wear?
We're currently expanding our menswear range – take a look at our menswear section to find vintage style menswear and accessories.
My dress needs to be altered - will that be done in the shop?
Unlike traditional bridal shops, we do not offer an alteration or seamstress service. We're happy to recommend suitable seamstresses or tailors here in Frankfurt, but you will need to organize that part yourself. Please note that we do not accept any responsibility for the work of external service providers.
I'd love to get vintage hair styling and makeup, great wedding pictures, a vintage car for my way to the ceremony ...
We can recommend companies from our vast network - just ask. However, we cannot guarantee they will be available or accept responsibility for their work.
I don't live in Frankfurt or can't come to the shop - what do I do?
Don't worry! Just get in touch, we'll be happy to do a personal consultation by e-mail, telephone, messenger or video call. A few of the wedding dresses you can see in the web shop are very delicate, for this reason they are not available for regular orders. If one of these is your dream dress, please do not hesitate to contact us - we will definitely find a solution! It's always a good idea to have your measurements at hand so that we can give you the best advice on sizing and fit. For 1950s style and swing dresses the bust and waist measurements are most important, if you are looking at 1920s styles or pencil dresses you will also need to measure your hip.
